Under both Democratic and Republican administrations, the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute has invited senior officials from the Department of State to present formal statements on U.S. strategy for the region. This week we are honored to have such a presentation by Ambassador Robert O.  Blake, Jr., Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, U.S. Department of State. Ambassador Blake’s Central Asian responsibilities include Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. However, he will place his comments in a regional context, and address longer term hopes and expectations as well as immediate plans. We are particularly pleased to be hosting Ambassador Blake who is a distinguished SAIS graduate, class of 1984.
